Why Pink Flannel Pajamas? I simply LOVE flannel pajamas (much to my husband's dismay) - they're so warm and soft and comfy! When we were kids, Santa always brought us new flannel pj's for Christmas and I couldn't wait to wear them! So I was trying to think of a blog name and as I was folding laundry, I noticed that I really liked the pattern on a set of pj's I bought myself a few weeks ago. A lightbulb went off, and Pink Flannel Pajamas was born! (Hey, flannel can be sexy! After all, it's what you can't see that's intriguing, right?)
Anyway, I love the pattern and colors so much that I'm using them as my inspiration for my January cards in the Sisterhood of the Traveling Cards swap on SCS (I'm PSU_Mom). The STC is an *amazing* group of gals, who I'm honored & blessed to call my friends, that I met through a swap hosted by kmensley. January's theme is floral/tropical and I thought the colors in the pj's were perfect for the theme! I'm working on the cards today and hope to post a pic by this evening, so in the meantime, here is a pic of my flannel pajamas that inspired me:
I also thought it would be fun to do some Newbie Blogger Blog Candy right off the bat! (yes, it is a transparent, blatant attempt to get some comments here LOL) Just create something using the flannel as inspiration - card, altered item, papercraft, scrapbook page, whatever your heart desires! Then post a comment with a link to your creation by midnight on Monday, January 5, and I'll use a random number system to draw a winner on Tuesday. The winner will receive these cool Scrappy Cat clear flower stamps and Making Memories paper flowers & brads:
I hope you'll find my blog to be a comfy place to visit (whether you're wearing flannel pajamas or not) and will let me know every now and then what you think!
One last thought before I get working on my cards . . . As you start a new year, I would ask you to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life for a few minutes and think about all the people who are important to you.
My family suffered a great loss when my mother passed away on December 19 after a valiant battle with breast cancer. She was such a strong woman, never complaining about anything through her entire illness. I was blessed to be with her when she peacefully slipped away, and I take great comfort in truly believing that she is happy and well and enjoying her new life in Heaven. And, I will always be grateful that I had many opportunities to tell her now much she meant to me. So for the special people in YOUR lives, please take a minute to give them a call or drop them an email or send them a card to let them know that you thought of them today. You'll be glad you did!
